Sleepless in Streatham
By Paul Andrews
Ben De’ath is a successful, 30 something dentist from South London. Mandy, his assistant, teases him for trying to find true love through a dating agency.
When his estranged father rings him unexpectedly and invites him to dinner, Ben starts to get worried. When his dad asks about girl friends, Ben really starts to panic.
‘Sleepless in Streatham’ is the story of Ben’s search for the woman of his dreams, ably assisted by Larry, a retired female impersonator and Frank, a lawnmower salesman at B&Q. Ben’s search is hindered by Dick, a fellow dentist and love rival and, among other things, an untold secret from Ben’s teenage years.
It is the antidote to the chick lit novel; a story told from the man’s point of view.
It contains something for everyone; humour, sex, violence (only to the bad guys) and marmite!
Thanks to my brother Graham for working on the original idea with me.
